Rethinking Breakfast

Disclosure: I was provided with Honey Bunches of Oats Breakfast Biscuits to review and compensated for my time.

Sunday brunch is my favorite meals of the week.  It’s the only time when there are no activities going on, no work emails flooding in and bacon is the first item on the menu.  It’s a complete contrast to every other day of the week.

Whether the kids are in or out of school, weekday breakfasts are always rushed.  The dogs have to be walked, the toddler needs help getting dressed, someone inevitably has lost a shoe and all of my children have to be dropped off at different times.  The children have their go-to breakfasts: cereal or waffle with fruit and milk.

I, on the other hand, hardly have time for coffee.  But, without breakfast, I became a zombie by 10 a.m. and look for any piece of unclaimed food in the office.  Skipping breakfast is a bad habit for my health and productivity.

Realizing I can’t continue this way, I’ve started rethinking breakfast.  I’ve been on the hunt for foods that satisfy my hunger, provide nutrition and keep me energized until lunch time.

Honey Bunches of Oats recently sent me their new Breakfasts Biscuits to try and I have become a big fan.  The breakfast biscuits are crunchy, made with 100% whole grains and provide five grams of protein.  The biscuits come in three flavors: Honey Roasted, Strawberry and Chocolate Chip.

A café con leche, a Honey Bunches of Oats Breakfast Biscuit and a banana and I am out the door in record time!

By considering new ways to work in a nutritious breakfast, I have been able to make it through my morning meetings without crashing and don’t find myself grabbing for extra calories out of sheer hunger.
